What we collect

When you submit an enquiry we collect your name, email address, telephone number, any organisation you give and the description of your matter. We also record which page the enquiry came from so we can route it to the right person.

If we go on to act for you, we collect the information required to run your matter and to meet our identity, anti-money-laundering and record-keeping obligations.

Why we use it and our lawful basis

We use enquiry details to respond to you, to carry out conflict checks and to decide whether we can act. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to a request you have made, and, once instructed, the performance of our retainer with you and compliance with our legal obligations.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use enquiry content for marketing unless you ask us to.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become matters are retained only for as long as we need them for conflict-checking and regulatory purposes, and are then deleted. Files for matters we handle are retained for the period required by our professional obligations and then securely destroyed.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask us to erase or restrict its use in certain circumstances, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests.

You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. We would ask you to raise the issue with us first so that we can put it right.
